Dear Reader,
You know how everyone gets excited when Fall fashion begins (for boots, jackets, cold-accessories, etc.)? I feel that way more when Spring hits.
Warm-weather fashion speaks to my soul.
In “spirit animal” language, I feel raffia, linen, cotton, etc. are my spirit materials. They speak to me, and when I wear them, everything feels right inside.
Am I making any sense?
Probably not.
In any event, I think pretty deeply about the pieces I invest in during the Spring months and how they’ll wear into our long Summer ahead.
Below are my key pieces for this Spring (and into Summer).
xx
1. KITTEN HEELED SANDAL
Last year, I got this Toteme kitten heeled flip flop, and I swear it was my most worn shoe. Truly, a good kitten heel pairs well with everything—from dresses, to boyfriend denim, to a cool trouser short.
This year, I splurged on this kitten heeled sandal by The Row, knowing they will be on weekly rotation. Haven’t worn yet (it is snowing as I type—happy Spring!), but they’re anxiously awaiting our upcoming trip to SoCal.
If you’re only getting one pair, I’d get either a black or ivory/nude pair for transitional purposes.
2. WOVEN BAG
Goes without saying, a woven bag is an essential warm weather piece. I love the natural hue of raffia, but lately, I’m into an understated brown crochet bag. By understated, I mean zero leather, zero hardware, zero labels — I like it like that.
I will say though, I’ve worn this bigger tote the most. Holds my 16” MacBook, among all other important things in my life. Bonus, moms: it doubles as a great diaper bag (put it to the test last weekend).
I’ve also owned/loved my YSL woven bucket bag for years. This one hasn’t left the market since it entered—a sure sign it’s a well-loved, timeless essential.
Sezane also makes great woven bags for a happy price-point (I own/love this one).
3. LINEN PANTS/SETS
I wanted to narrow it down to these pants, but I gotta say: this Deiji Studio short set and this Max Mara linen dress are both going to be worn and loved equally.
I also recently ordered this linen pant from J Crew (a great price) and these linen pants from Ref. Can’t have enough breezy drawstrings, especially with this bump!
4. COTTON JACKET
I know I’m a broken record, but I stand firm when I say: Toteme makes the best outwear for all seasons.
Toteme’s long classic trench has been my go-to this season (also a good one for Fall). Mytheresa also sent me this Toteme’s cotton jacket with leather accents. It’s a bit shorter with an A-line, and the leather collar adds a bit of interest while still remaining pretty understated.
5. BUTTON UP COTTON SHIRT
Frankly, this is the one garment in which I could own 100 reiterations — they’re on rotation that much and go with absolutely everything.
Especially white.
Oh, and I always go a bit oversized (and only button two midway buttons for that somewhat sexy yet also relaxed vibe).
Love Sezane’s Max, Jenni Kayne’s boyfriend, Citizen’s Kayla… can’t go wrong.
6. JAMIE HALLER PENNY LOAFERS
Perhaps my most worn out of any of the above, and truly, work in all seasons (I wear them with a sock in Fall/Winter) — the Jamie Haller penny loafer.
I have a tendency to wear these like a slide-on-mule, stepping directly on the heel which can be done without compromising the structure of the shoe (I still wear the heel, too).
I own three pairs of these and couldn’t say enough good things. They’re perfectly buttery and require zero “wear in” time. Also, they pair well with anything — including sweatpants.
While you’re at it… check out her sandals. Heart eyes.
Until next time!
xx Megan
these sandals!
Love the Jamie Haller sandals. WOW.
