Dear Reader,

Of all the things in the design process, there’s one area I’m extra particular about: prints.

As someone who mostly wears solids, you might assume I shy away from florals or stripes altogether.

But that’s not true—I actually love a great print.
It’s just that most prints aren’t great.

So when I do find one that feels just right? It’s rare. And exciting.

From the very beginning, I told Dillard’s: prints would be my biggest challenge. I had a very specific vision—and a very low tolerance for “almost.”

Every print in this collection is custom. I’d start with a reference—something vintage, something close—and then we’d tweak it. Adjust the colors. Shift the scale. Refine until it felt like mine. Like ours.

For this collection, I included plenty of solid-colored pieces—but I also wanted a thoughtful mix of pattern:
– Large-scale florals
– Small-scale florals
– Bold, classic stripes
– Delicate stripes with fine-lined detail

One unexpected challenge? Designing a floral print for boys. It was something Dillard’s specifically requested—and at first, it felt nearly impossible to create something that didn’t skew too feminine. But eventually, I landed on a block print-inspired floral that I think walks the line. It might be one of the most surprising favorites.
