Dear Reader,
A couple of summers ago, we started seeing bare feet.
Well—bare, but covered. In mesh. Or plastic.
At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. But I think I’ve decided: I like it.
I like it in the same way I like a sheer nail—polished, but barely. It gives “naked” while offering just enough tasteful coverage. It makes you look twice, but not in an offensive way.
As someone who lives in a neutral color palette, I’ve decided a lot of this sheer trend qualifies as a neutral.
But what makes it interesting is that transparency isn’t about color—it's about material.
And that’s what I love in fashion: a simple palette made interesting through texture, tactility, contrast.
Cotton and leather. Mesh and linen. Gloss and matte.
Unfussy colors. Complex materials.
Since the mesh moment, I’ve seen this “not there, but there” trend reach new realms.
I recently bought this trench, and for the price, I think it was a solid find.
My one regret? The PVC jellies from The Row. I paid the premium—even though the vinyl alone told me: these shoes are not worth $1,000.
And while I don’t consider myself a “trend” person, I’ll admit—in full transparency: I’ve dabbled.
At an expense, and at a bargain, I’ve dabbled.
Below, a few transparent pieces I find chic.
Just in case you’d like to dabble too.
(Shop my entire “Transparent” edit here — so much more than there is below)

So—how do you feel about the trend?
Yay or nay?
xx

YAY!! Also I have Amazon dupes of those row shoes and I have to say, they kind of deliver… 🫣 I don’t love promoting dupes, just saying! And the doen top is amazing 👀
Here for this one! I've still been on the fence on a mesh shoe, but the Dear France's one's are literally so comfortable I might not be able to resist much longer.
