Dear Reader,
I write to you on the first day of Fall, although the weather feels more like Summer today with a high of 75 degrees.
We just got back from a four mile walk outside, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t perspire through my knit.
Why did you wear a knit? you may wonder.
Because it’s Fall, and I love a Fall knit — so much so that I force knits from my closet even when the weather is beautifully warm and sunny.
It’s confusing; I don’t want cold weather, but I want cold weather fashion.
In any event, the temps earlier this week were a bit cooler, so I got my knit fix in while it was more appropriate to do so, climate-wise. On the brisk mornings, I even got in a little wool action.
Are you here for cool weather fashion? If so, see some pieces below.
xx Megan
My Monday was slow; I didn’t shower, and it was a leggings and ball cap type of day (perhaps this day inspired my latest post, Ways to Make Rolling Out of Bed Look Fantastic). Not sure I look “fantastic” here, but this Toteme jacket makes all things look better, leggings and all (also love the black and green hue of this jacket).
I pushed the limits with my Toteme wool cableknit dress, wearing it on a 70-degree day. My desire to wear this piece outweighed my desire to embrace our final Summer days, which says a lot. Toteme’s wool is just too good to pass on — it is ultra fine, almost silky-feeling. Zero percent itchy, and absolutely zero pilling.
Note: Toteme’s cashmere is just as good — I got this cableknit crew last year, and it’s a forever favorite!
Probably I could have played it cool with a lighter shoe, but my urge to wear my Toteme suede booties was also quite high.
Also this week: a couple new stripes! The first one is from Katch, a business that truly emulates the “fewer, better” philosophy, creating small-batch quality pieces out of a textile mill in Guatemala. No joke, this is probably the softest button-up in my closet (also love the pearly buttons/subtle stripe). Sarah, the founder, gave me a code to offer my readers a discount too!: MEGAN20 at checkout.
The second stripe is this substantial striped crew from Wyeth, created by my friend, Jacey Duprie (she’s also on Substack). When I saw this piece online, I thought it would be a simple cotton tee. Nope. It’s a knit tee, almost sweatshirt-like, with a heavier hand-feel. Love a little weight in a classic stipe crew for Fall. 10/10.
Wore Wyeth’s stripe with my beloved Oxblood loafers by my fav, Jamie Haller (have worn her loafers for years — literal slippers!). This specific loafer sold out in a heartbeat when Emily Ratajkowski was caught wearing them in public, but all sizes available again! Also back in stock: the croc brown.
Last thing to note: the incredible new Teo Jacket by Sezane. When I saw this piece, I thought lady jacket meets knit, which are two of my favorite things for autumn. This material is very thick, slightly stretchy, and no itch.
I’m wearing the XS which fits as it’s designed to, so I’d go TTS if you dig it this way. Howeverrr, I think sizing up would definitely give it a cooler oversized feel (similar to how it looks on the model).
Until next week, my friends!
