Can I tell you a secret? I often don’t shower.
I mean, okay, I take baths almost every evening, but that doesn't count. No matter how many luxe lavender products I use, I am ultimately swimming in my own puddle of slob. That’s what baths are for, I think — comfort, not cleanse.
Anyways, I’ve learned I’m not alone here. Several friends tell me they, too, don't shower/wash their hair/get ready on a regular basis.
Arguably, it’s actually better to not sud up our bodies and hair on the daily (the natural oils are key!, they say), but ultimately, I think the better rationale is that life is busy, time is precious, and we ought to find an effective way to make not getting ready look fantastic.
I find there are a few key pieces that, when paired with even the sluggish of sweats, create an ultra cool vibe that is less time-consuming (and ultimately more sustainable) for a busy being.
These few things have rescued me on my I just rolled out of bed days.
Pieces to Elevate Rolling Out of Bed Vibe
1. A Luxe Knit OR Wool Jacket
An oversized knit is arguably just as comfy-cozy as a fleece sweatshirt, but looks much more refined. Lately, I’ve throw my La Ligne Marin over my sport bra and leggings (a lesser-priced version of Lisa Yang’s Sony or this the Ophelia by The Row).
Another foolproof piece to make sloppy look polished: this Toteme fringe. Just as great over Lululemon aligns as it is over a pretty dinner dress, IMO.
If the fringe isn’t your thing, I think any good oversized wool blazer or trench will make your I just rolled out of bed days look fantastic.
2. A Hot Handbag
In 2020, I bought my first designer handbag: a Chanel flap bag.
Mind you, this was during COVID crazy times, when face masks and WFH outfits were the norm. So, naturally, this is what I wore mostly… but I paired it with my new beloved leather handbag with a gold CC closure.
I had an aha! moment when I walked into a Whole Foods market wearing this bag with sweats, sneakers, and probably, an unbrushed head. In this moment, I realized that, no matter how grunge I appeared, I had a killer bag.
The bag was the outfit, I decided.
How liberating to think I could instantly be pulled together without any effort required. All I needed was a good bag. Done!
My recent go-to favorites are from The Row: The N/S bag, the Marguax tote, and also, the Banana.
3. A Little Bling
Never did I think I’d be “that girl” that wears a riviere necklace during a sweat sesh, but here I am.
I specifically love Dorsey for elevating leggings/sweats, simply because I feel like I can be less precious with these sparkly pieces. Each piece is made with lab-grown white sapphires (which look near identical to a diamond), so the pieces look a lot more expensive than their true retail price.
My most worn are the James bezel, the Clemence, and lately, the Kate. I also recently ordered the newest Spencer ring, and I am legit giddy over pairing this with my JK Saturday sweatpants.
And if all else fails, simply put on a good pair of sunglasses.
xx Megan
Such good tips, Meg! I just got this jacket from Reformation. It’s kind of a Toteme knock off, but it’s honestly beautiful and half the price. Highly recommend.

Ha! Your subheading is perfection. I love the simple tips!
