Completely. Cannot speak for anyone else, but on my end, I really try to stay true to myself and share only the product I love — and often, I end up buying from the brands I’m gifted from!
Very well written and is, as the others have said, very relatable.
We recently went to SYR, due in large part to your recommendation, and had two wine tastings there with sommeliers. As you know, SYR has one of the best wine cellars in the world and is very highly awarded - it would have been very easy to have experiences driven by what wine was the highest rated, the most expensive, etc. but instead we focused both tastings on narrowing down our palate and what we enjoy. The experience was enlightening! Now I feel empowered to describe what I like so I can discern if there is a $30 bottle that I'll enjoy more than a $100 bottle, based on what I know I like in a wine.
I find that this is much harder to do with clothes but I'm focusing currently on narrowing down my purchases based on quality - not price - mainly by looking at fabrics. For example, there is a $600 collarless blazer by House of Dagmar that I'm drooling over but I can't justify the price knowing it's primarily made of polyester. That said, the artistic side of fashion, what I like to see vs. feel or pay for is much harder for me to determine.
Such a thoughtful comment, thank you (by the way, did you like SYR?!). Wine tasting is one of "those things" that really makes you sit with your palette, which I absolutely love. I think the same can hold true for fashion, but agree, it can be harder when there are some brands that can "get away" with higher tags due to their reputation.
I really loved this read as well. It resonated with me, as I do not look good in anything oversized, and with my new Row Blake handbag - do I really love it, or am I being influenced. Thanks for sharing.

I begin to wonder what influencers share is what was gifted to them for free so they continue to get free things or what they truly love and wear.

It was incredible! Exactly how you described and then some because it’s just one of those places that words/photos can’t do justice.
I am so glad you loved it! One of the most beautiful places in the country I’ve been to. 🙏🏻💕

Loved this read, Megan!
Thank you, Heather (and thank you or the share!).

Thank you for reading, Karen. I will say that bag is a beauty, a classic -- but don't allow me to influence you. :)
